USDA Library Demonstration Information:

This document contains the entire list of labeling regulations within Part 317, Section 2 of 9 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations). In addition, our Food Technologists have culled out only those regulations that have to do with Meat & Poultry Labeling and have dissected them into manageable lengths of text for easy research.

The grid below is designed to tell you some basic summary information about each regulation to make your job even easier:

  1. The Name column contains the Regulation source and document number. This is especially handy because Meat & Poultry Label regulations can be found in a variety of different sources. In this case the source is 9 CFR, but other Regulation lists cover 7 CFR, Policy Memos from the SLPB (Standards & Labeling Policy Book), FSIS Directives, Export Regulations, Guides from PLC's Basic Labeling Course, Other Regulations, etc.
  2. The Synopsis column contains the first few lines of text in the regulation and gives some context so that you can decide if that particular regulation may be relevant.
